János Aknay Exhibition: Between the Earth and Celestial Sphere

János Aknay is a leading figure of contemporary Hungarian art. He is a laureate of the Kossuth and Munkácsy prizes, his work continuous and simultaneously revitalizing the geometric effort of the painting trend inextricably linked with the city of Szentendre, which has over a century of tradition. The work of this artist has several distinctive features: the influence of a peculiar world of motifs bound to the baroque architecture of that town, “the town of painters”, abstracting from the immediate visual environment, the effort of compacting image structure and modeling macrocosm patterns in geometric structures. His Bratislava exhibition is an overview of the artist’s oeuvre, with the most recent work included in the context of recent decades.
