IFFC Febiofest 2016

The forthcoming 23th International Festival of Film Clubs Febiofest will be a tribute to club cinematography. Visitors can look forward to more than 100 films in 10 sections and nearly 30 days of the festival in 10 Slovak cities. The aim of the festival is to draw attention to domestic production and to compare it with movies of neighboring countries.

A key program section is the competition short films with a name – In the middle of Europe. In the section Slovak film country, the festival will offer premieres of new Slovak feature films, documentaries as well as original television projects.  The latest feature and documentary films from all around the world will be presented to viewers in the section called Club film today.  Cult films that belong to the golden fund of world cinema will be presented in the section Mirror of the past. Viewers will see here a combination of classic and discoveries that laid in the archives unnoticed, among them historical documents or film weeklies. One of the most favorite section is News of ASFK (Association of Slovak film clubs). Here will ASFK offer sneak previews of 9 new movies that will be premiered this year. The festival has also got profile section – Personalities of club film and with the thoughts of its visitors it has also a section where film enthusiasts are able to put together their own selection of movies on demand – Club Jukebox. For children’s festival visitors is prepared Film cabinet for children that focuses on the education of the youngest generation of audiences through screenings for primary and secondary schools. Kinoikon + section will be focused on scandalous Polish-French director Walerian Borowczyk.  The new programm section was added this year – called Experimental.

Important part of Febiofest are professional and accompanying events, including the program for film professionals – Works in Progress  as well as discussions with filmmakers and actors after the screenings, workshops and master classes.

FEBIOFEST comes with a special FEBIOPAS (pass), for the first time allowing 10 free admissions to any festival screening in Bratislava.

Note: The price per Febiopas pass for 10 screenings in the price of €10 is valid until February 29. It will cost €15 from 1 March and during the festival.
