New Year’s Eve 2016

Many Slovaks are celebrating the New Years Eve in the streets of the Old Town. There is always a large event celebration at Hlavne namestie, there will be an ice skating rink and booths on Hviezdoslavovo namestie as well as a large fireworks over the Danube river.

Nearly every club and pub organises a New Year’s Eve party. Some of them require a place reservation and entrance fee, some others not. It is very common, that people stay on the streets until around midnight and then continue in a club or bar.

The public transport runs through the day on it’s weekend itinerary and later in the evening and after midnight, the busses and trams are driving more frequently, with intervals 15-30 minutes until early morning. There are several taxi services on call, in apps and the known drive sharing service as well.
