St. Matthew Passion

The Utrecht Student Choir and Orchestra is one of the largest and best known student music ensembles in the Netherlands. It was founded shortly after World War II in 1945, with the goal of preserving the sense of unity and fraternity among Utrecht students, which had developed during the war. The music of J.S. Bach played an important role in achieving this aim. And it still does today: the Utrecht Students Choir and Orchestra rehearses and performs the three big works of Bach (St. Matthew Passion, Johannes Passion and Mass in H minor) in a continuous cycle.
