For three days, Bratislava will return in time to become Pressburg again, when wine was flowing in the fountains and streets were full of celebrations of the new monarch.
Step into royal history – Bratislava Coronation Days 2026
From 24 to 26 July 2026, Bratislava – the former coronation city of the Kingdom of Hungary – will transform into a living stage of royal heritage. For one summer weekend, history will come alive in the streets, squares, and courtyards of the capital. This year, the spotlight belongs to Maria Theresa, the most significant crowned ruler in Bratislava’s history.

During Bratislava Coronation Days, you can look forward to:
⚔️ Knightly tournament full of battles, noble horses, and heroic duels – Tyršovo Embankment, Friday afternoon
👑 Coronation procession with monarchs and nobles in historical costumes walking through the Old Town – from Bratislava Castle to the Main Square, Saturday afternoon
👑 Coronation ceremony featuring Renaissance music, ceremonial dances, and historic rituals – Main Square, Saturday following the arrival of the coronation procession
🎶 Concert in the Cathedral of St. Martin
🎭 Creative workshops and games for families and all generations – various locations throughout the weekend
🔍 Themed guided city tours bringing real coronation stories to life – all weekend in the historic city centre, registration required
📍 All main events take place in Bratislava’s historic city centre, in the very places once walked by kings and queens. The Friday knightly tournament will take place at Tyršovo Embankment.
The entire programme is free of charge.
The event is organized by Bratislava Tourist Board in cooperation with BKIS.
