The annual wine-tasting that takes guests on a journey through the products of winegrowers and winemakers from Rača near Bratislava celebrated its 25th anniversary this year. The event opened the door to winemakers and their wines from the Ráča wine region for two days. Each participant of the event received a goodie bag and a tasting glass. Wine enthusiasts and tourists alike learned where the wine is fermented, stored and, most importantly, sampled. Approximately 20 local cellars in Rača offered wine made by 24 selected winemakers.

Pairing superb wine with excellent cuisine made the experience complete. Guests could visit several restaurants, including Sedmička Restaurant, Jennyv Restaurant, Račiansky dvor Restaurant, BIVIO Hotel & Restaurant, LOZANO Restaurant and Šinweg Garden Restaurant.

The wine that healed Empress Maria Theresa

Winemakers from Rača are particularly proud of the Genofond Lemberger and Rača Lemberger wine sorts that supposedly healed the Empress Maria Theresa. In Rača, unique wine cellars swung their doors open in the basement of the German Cultural House and Rača Room – an ethnographic and wine-growing outpost.
