Čierne diery: 340 grafík a 10 rokov záchrany pamiatok

Už desať rokov cestujú po Slovensku a dokumentujú pamiatky, ktoré chátrajú a hrozí, že ich ďalšie generácie už neuvidia. Hovoria si Čierne diery a teraz prinášajú do Aukčnej spoločnosti SOGA ich jubilejnú výstavu.

The anniversary exhibition at the SOGA Auction Company presents the graphic series Black Holes, a selection from a broader body of work that since 2015 has exceeded 340 works by almost 100 Slovak artists. The exhibition works with the principle of similarity and suggests the range of approaches of Black Holes. All the works are printed by the members of the association themselves in their studio on a Japanese risograph machine of the brand Riso. From the vibrant rice and soy inks, new depictions of cultural heritage are created. With printing errors that are the interest of the work.

The success of the Black Holes graphic series has enabled the association to become financially involved in the field of cultural heritage. Heritage protection, which has long been undernourished in Slovakia, is paralysed after the new leadership of the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic and threatens to change from the ground up.

In 2020, after the exhibition of Black Holes at the SOGA Auction Company, the entire series of prints was acquired for the collection of the Slovak National Gallery. The proceeds from the auction helped Black Holes complete a project for experiential accommodation in the Coburg mansion in Jelšava, which won the CEZAAR Architecture Prize. After five years, Black Holes returned to the SOGA Auction Company, focusing on other monuments, such as the restoration of the Ironworkers‘ Apartment House in Betliar.

The series of prints continues – expanding to include new themes, new artists, and new charitable projects.
