Deň architektúry: Ženy v architektúre
With historian Júlia Itin and architect Jana Benková, we explore the women behind the impressive architecture of Marien Hof and Živnodom.
Women in the creative industries, especially in interwar architecture, are hard to find. This makes their stories all the more precious – often perfect for a thrilling film script about the turbulent 20th century. The tour will introduce not only the life and work of photographer Irena Blühová and artist Ester Šimerová-Martinčeková, but also the places where they worked in Bratislava – the functionalist Marienhof by Josef Nowotný (1934) and Živnodom by Klement Šilingr (1930). The harmony between the past and the present will be presented by co-author and co-resident Janka Benková in apartment N1M.
