Jay Mood & Peter Lipa

Jay Mood and Peter Lipa will perform at Pink Whale on May 3rd.

The band Jay Mood spontaneously rose to prominence at blues jam-sessions in the Bratislava club Rustique. He is dedicated to the interpretation of the musical style of Chicago blues and jump blues, as well as rock’n’roll. Bass guitar player and double bass player Juraj Kalász was at the birth of the group. Other members of the lineup are guitarist Lukáš „Luky“ Hrončiak, rock’n’roll pianist and singer Andy Ray Haverda, bluesman, harmonica player and singer Juraj Schweigert and percussionist Juraj David Raši. In May 2022, the group released the album It’s Just a Game with guest Austrian guitarist Jörg Danielsen.

Peter Lipa is a Slovak jazz singer, composer, presenter and music organizer. He is an important figure in the field of Slovak jazz life and for a long time, he was the leading organizer of the Bratislava Jazz Days festival. He has developed a unique vocal style that focuses on the lyrics. He is called the „father of Slovak jazz“.
