CAP Gallery invites all art lovers to a new exhibition titled Branded Art, which will be presented from 3 February to 28 February 2025. The exhibition brings together twenty-four renowned Slovak and foreign artists in a playful and unconventional project, at the centre of which stands an unexpected object – an old, discarded road sign.
„The sign as a symbol of freedom and creativity“:
The concept of the exhibition was based on the idea of the renowned academic painter Ján Raska, who was inspired by old road signs at the flea market. „My aim was to bring together artists of different generations and artistic views in a joint project in which old road signs became the canvas,“ says the artist. Although the road sign is commonly perceived as a symbol of commands and prohibitions, in the hands of the artists it has become a metaphor for freedom, openness and creativity.
International line-up of artists:
The exhibition presents twenty-four works by renowned artists from Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Mexico, including not only painters and sculptors, but also a film director, a set designer, music composers, jewellery makers and creators of video installations. In addition to the author Ján Raska, these are, for example, artists Daniel Brunovský, Fero Lipták, Ondrej Rudavsky, Daniela Jáurequi Servin or director Martin Šulík. Their work on road signs combines elements of classical and conceptual art, with some works referring to social themes, the symbolism of movement or the reflection of identity.
