He is known for his innovative work with the guitar and has an extensive solo career, as well as numerous collaborations with artists such as Brian Eno and John Zorn. Frith has also composed extensively for prestigious classical music ensembles, as well as for film, dance, and theater. He taught composition at Mills College and other institutions until his retirement. He is the main protagonist of the acclaimed 1990 documentary film Step Across the Border.<\/p>\n<p>An Anglo-Iranian virtuoso, composer, turntablist, and performer who works across experimental music, free improvisation, hybrid club sounds, and hip-hop. Mariam uses a digital vinyl system that allows her to manipulate a wide range of samples in real time. In addition to mastering classic turntablism techniques, she has also developed several approaches of her own. Her latest solo album, Fractured (released on the Heat Crimes label), has been praised by media outlets such as The Wire, Uncut, and Bandcamp Daily, and was named one of the albums of 2024 by The Quietus magazine.<\/p>\n<p>A poet and rapper who is part of the London collective life is beautiful, where he often collaborates with producer aloisius. Hull&#8217;s music shimmers in an ethereal way \u2013 it is urgent and escapist in equal measure. He calls himself a &#8222;stand-up tragicomedy.&#8220; Over minimalist backing reminiscent of Triad God or Dean Blunt&#8217;s production, and dark, glitch-laden beats that sound like a turntable playing on its last legs, Hull recites his candid diary poems \u2013 sometimes funny, sometimes full of anxiety, but never shying away from the harsh political reality of life in the United Kingdom.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Saturday evening NEXT 2025: 26th Advanced Music Festival at A4 \u2013 space for contemporary culture.
