The collective creates space for free movement, creativity, and dialogue in diverse forms and is coming to Košice with an all-day program Dance on Touch, which aims to engage students from art schools. tanC does not limit itself to the traditional sharing of experiences in a workshop setting; it also offers practical information related to the actual implementation of artistic projects. Through a lecture and subsequent discussion, it aims to motivate students to take their first independent steps toward realizing their own ideas. The day spent together will conclude with a site-specific dance performance.

The Zone of Feeling is a site-specific dance performance that explores the theme of distance as a physical, emotional, and choreographic principle. The project stems from the need to rediscover the body in space and touch as a fundamental form of human contact—a sensory moment that is often lost in the fast-paced world of digital communication. The aim of the project is to create a space for “experience”—where distance, closeness, touch, or its absence take on new meaning. In a zone where not everything is obvious, movement becomes a carrier of meaning and a means of communication. The project invites the viewer to actively observe, perceive, and awaken through physicality, closeness, and sensitivity to the surroundings. The work utilizes the principles of contemporary dance, contact improvisation, physical theater, and movement research focused on sensory perception. The performers perceive the body as a “living sensor” that reacts to space, distance, touch, and the audience’s impulses, thereby blurring the boundary between performer and audience.

Concept, performance: Lucia Bielik, Radoslav Piovarči

Music: Michal Paľko

Lighting design: Milan Slama

Project producer: tanC

The event is organized by tanC in collaboration with Nová Cvernovka.
