That same year, he began making wine as a self-taught winemaker while also undertaking a complete renovation of the wine cottage and the construction of a new wine cellar. He produces his wines from grapes grown in Pukanec and the surrounding villages and markets them under the brand name kalt wine, which references the German settlers of Pukanec from ancient history as well as the origin of his surname, the cooler climate of Slovakia\u2019s highest-altitude vineyards (kalt \u2013 cold, German) and, last but not least, is an acronym of the first names of his family members.
