And to top it all off, FAD STU is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s theme for Urban Market is courage. Behind every small brand lies a story of a decision\u2014perhaps quiet, perhaps risky, but always personal\u2014to forge one\u2019s own path, a decision that requires great courage:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>to start from scratch,<\/li>\n<li>to believe in one\u2019s idea,<\/li>\n<li>to stand out from the crowd and be different,<\/li>\n<li>to experiment, fail, and try again,<\/li>\n<li>to stay local, even when it would be easier to produce quickly and cheaply,<\/li>\n<li>to invest time, energy, and money into something with an uncertain outcome,<\/li>\n<li>to create sustainably and choose quality over quantity,<\/li>\n<li>to run a small business, often under challenging conditions.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Local design is not a given, and without the determination and conviction of specific individuals, it would not exist.
