As the coronation, ecclesiastical and administrative centre of the Kingdom of Hungary, Pressburg represented a major hub in the Central European network of artistic contacts, attracting painters and sculptors from various parts of the Habsburg Monarchy.<\/p>\n<p>This guided tour will showcase selected artists whose work is linked to Pressburg, although their influence extended far beyond the city\u2019s borders and those of Hungary. Through the works of Paul Troger, Franz Anton Palko, Jozef Kurtz, Franz Xaver Messerschmidt and other masters, it will shed light on the workings of art commissions, the movement of artists between different regions, and the connections between Vienna, Moravia, Hungary and other centres of Central Europe.<\/p>\n<p>The tour will present Pressburg as a meeting place for patrons, artists and diverse artistic traditions.
