Ballet Don Quixote – Première
During the 2019/2020 season we mark 150 years since the first première of the ballet Don Quixote. Marius Petipa first presented the oeuvre based on the novel by Miguel de Cervantes and to the music by Ludwig Minkus was first presented in 1869 in Moscow at the Imperial Theatre. The ballet gem has been since part of the repertoire of theatres worldwide. Petipa, the genius in staging classical ballets, interlaced the story of forbidden love between Kitri and Basilio with the fantasy world of Don Quixote who set out to seek the lady of his heart. We present the ballet, as the synonym of the eternal fight against windmills as staged by the specialists on classical oeuvres – Vasili Medvedev and Stanislav Fečo. The grand set with the atmosphere of the sunny Spain, temperamental music full of southern motives and dynamic choreography that represents the brilliance of our soloists and the corps de ballet promise an extraordinary experience.
