Broken glass in old Pressburg households

An interesting and rare exhibition of archeological findings from 12th to 18th century focused on glass.

The glass was until the second half of the 15th century a luxury goods, available only to a small group of wealthy citizens. These findings are a demonstration of the regions prosperity, trade connections as well as cultural level of the users.

From 13th to 15th century the origin of the glass is the Apennine Peninsula. In the 15th century we see the development of local glass manufacturers while there was still imported glass from Venice and later from the german manufacturies.  You can see renaissance style and later baroque style in these exhibited findings.
