Golden Age Festival
For the ninth time, Bratislava will be moved 100 years into the past. Immerse yourself in the atmosphere of interwar life from the 1920s to the 1940s, when hot-jazz and swing rang through Bratislava
In the period of the so-called of the golden era of jazz (“Golden Age” years 1920-1950) ragtime, hot-jazz, dixieland, swing or boogie-woogie sounded in the streets of cities and nightclubs. And it is precisely these genres that will be heard in the interpretation of two world-renowned musical groups.
The invitation from the organizer and best Slovak swing orchestra FATS JAZZ BAND was accepted this year by the top international orchestra ROARING CATS and one of the most sought-after dancers of contemporary dances HELENA KANINI KIIRA. Two separate concerts will be followed by a traditional improvised jam session of all the performers, which is very popular with the listeners and the musicians themselves.
The Golden Age Festival is the only festival in Slovakia that focuses on authentic interpretation of music from the beginnings of jazz. The groups that the organizers invite to the festival are selected with high demands on quality and period historical correctness.
The second performer will be the host orchestra Fats Jazz Band, led by piano virtuoso and saxophonist Ladislav Fančovič. Fats Jazz Band can be proud of performing at the Cannes Film Festival, invitations to the biggest foreign festivals of traditional jazz [e.g. Riverboat Jazz Festival (DK), International Dixieland Festival Dresden (DE), Jazz Fair Čakovec (HR), Bohém Ragtime & Jazz Festival (HU) and others], played at almost all domestic jazz festivals and also at many dance festivals, especially abroad.
