Lamento: Helping Ukraine

The second April Tuesday in Klarisky will be dedicated for Ukraine

The situation in this country is also not indifferent to the Quasars Ensemble, which expresses its full support and solidarity to the composers as well as to all the inhabitants of the hard-examined Ukraine.

Four selected works by Ukrainian composers are symbolic, silent lamentations in memory of the victims of this senseless war conflict. One of them, unfortunately, was the excellent composer Hanna Havrylets (April 11, 1958 – February 27, 2022), a professor of composition at the P. I. Tchaikovsky Academy of Music in Kiev, who did not receive the necessary medical assistance in time during the first days of the invasion.

The program will include compositions Kanzone for two violins (1999) by Igor Shcherbakov, a selection of Silent Songs for Singing and Piano (1974 – 1977) by Valentin Silvestrov, Lamento for Piano Trio (2008) by Bohdana Frolyak, To Maria… for String Quartet (1999) by Hanna Havrylets, as well as Korczak in memoriam for mezzosoprano, flute/piccolo, organ, timpani, and string quartet (2000) by Roman Berger.

Come to savour the music performed by successful music ensemble with international interprets led by its artistic director Ivan Buffa, enjoy the artistry of Marek Štrbák playing organ and the vocals of Eva Šušková. The concert in Klarisky Concert Hall will include a presentation of Roman Berger’s new author’s CD. All proceeds from the entrance fee will be donated to the Slovak branch of organization People in Need.
