Bratislava During the Slovak National Uprising

Despite the initial enthusiasm of the Slovak soldiers in the city barracks, Bratislava remained the center of the Slovak government, standing firmly on the German side even after the outbreak of the Slovak National Uprising. On the walk, which will be guided by the curator of Bratislava City Museum, Vladimír Krajčovič, we will talk about the disarmament of the Bratislava military garrison, the arrival of the new German occupation authorities, and we will walk through the places and buildings where they settled. We will also look at the sites where you would have found air-raid shelters in 1944, but today they have no resemblance to their original state and intended use. The walk will also include historical photographs of these places.

Meeting in front of the Grasalkovič Palace, Hodžovo námestie 1.
