Carnival Concert
The varied January concert program at Bratislava’s Reduta will be complemented by a Fašiangový concert by the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Jaroslav Kyzlink. It will take place in the SF Concert Hall on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. This is the third concert in the Popular Cycle C.
The program consists of popular orchestral pieces that are rhythmic, energetic, and humorous. It is a cheerful mosaic of works by several composers. Visitors will hear Slavonic Dances, Op. 46 by Antonín Dvořák, Spanish Overture No. 2, Memory of a Summer Night in Madrid by Mikhail Ivanovich Glinka, Waltz No. 2 from Jazz Suite No. 2 by Dmitri Shostakovich (orch. M. Jurowski), and Bacchanalia from Act III of Camille Saint-Saëns’ opera Samson et Dalila.
There will also be sparklers by Johann Strauss Jr., a native of Vienna, composer, bandleader, and conductor who gained fame and worldwide renown as the author of Viennese waltzes and operettas. The evening will conclude with a selection from Johannes Brahms’ Hungarian Dances. The Fasching concerts are a favorite program among visitors to the Slovak Philharmonic, and the concert is sold out.
