Slovak Philharmonic 70th Anniversary Festive Concerts
In the music of the 20th century the composers often drew from the font of mythic topics to aim the listener not only to the search of the essence of music as a timeless phenomenon, but also of revealing the core of the existence of the world and of mankind. In Slovakia Vladimír Godár saw to this important trend through his suggestive musical myth to a large degree. Something about the essence of music is indicated also by the music by Antonín Dvořák. The author admired and praised by the world never forgot where he came from – from picturesque rural surroundings. Also because of this his pieces oscillate on the border between high sophistication and masterfully shaped naiveness. In this respect, the Symphony No. 8 is maybe the most balanced opus. The elegy and drama are brilliantly balanced by ethnic material. Apart from that it is one of the most joyful and most lucid symphonic pieces of the music of the 19th century.
Under the baton of the chief conductor of the Slovak Philharmonic James Judd the violist Martin Ruman, currently solo violist of the Slovak Philharmonic Orchestra, will present himself to the audience. The Slovak cellist Jozef Lupták is a graduate of the Royal Academy of Music in London and founder and artistic director of the festival Convergences.
