Kee Avil + Aki Traar
Kee Avil balances between experimentation and pop – combining guitar, vocals, and electronics into fragile, unsettling avant-pop songs, while Aki Traar mixes avant-pop, distorted guitars, and club energy into emotional, pulsating tracks, which she will present together with her band at Nová Cvernovka.
Kee Avil moves on the border between experimentation and pop, songs and soundscapes. She combines guitar, vocals, electroacoustics, and electronic production to create songs that balance on the edge of collapse. Her music carries a sense of avant-pop, glitch, and experimental folk—intimate yet unsettling, fragile yet rawly industrial. Her debut album Crease (Constellation, 2022) immediately gained critical attention. Bandcamp Daily named it Album of the Day – “Kee Avil has created a debut full of devilishly creative energy, filled with uniquely subtle horrors.” Kee Avil confirmed her position as a prominent figure in experimental songwriting with the album Spine (Constellation, 2024) and her current album Vapor. She is releasing it on the New York label NNA Tapes throughout this year – gradually, song by song, like an audio diary capturing fleeting moments of creativity.
Aki Traar is an Austrian producer, composer, and sound designer who is currently known primarily as the author of avant-pop songs, in which he organically combines his past in deconstructed club, industrial, and theater sound design with indie sleaze aesthetics and songwriting. His current work is more straightforward, but still full of detailed sound work—distorted guitars, digital noise, layered beats, and raw emotion come together in songs that have a clear structure while retaining an experimental edge. After years of producing club tracks (debut on Ashida Park) and composing for theater, he moved on to songwriting, which immediately found its place in the radio charts. His latest album, Hound, presents a sensitive but determined avant-pop arc—from intimate, introspective moments with autobiographical undertones to euphoric, urgent anthems driven by distorted guitars and pulsating energy.
