Knights at Devín
On 31. 8. 2019 from 10 AM to 6:30 PM a traditional event at Devin Castle full of martial arts and crafts demonstrations will be held.
10:00 – Opening of the Devin castle gates for visitors
11:00 – Opening ceremony full of fencing and skills of the Turkish army elite – feared Janizaries
12:00 – A lecture on lifestyle, ethics and swordplay during the Middle Ages by the fencing master Ing. Peter Koza supplemented by demonstrations of medieval martial techniques
13:00 – Medieval dance – merry as well as educational
14:00 – The capture of Richard the Lionheart – performance based on a true story depicting the capture of this outstanding figure in the nearby city of Hainburg as well as the events that
lead to it
15:00 – The merry conjurer Ivan
16:00 – Knight’s tourney – in full glory with five brave knights. Come choose your favourite and support him in difficult tests of skill and a breathtaking joust!
17:15 – Recital of medieval music and poetry
18:30 – Closing ceremony
19:00 – Flosing of castle gates
During the day it would be possible to refresh yourself in an Oriental tea house, shoot in a historical shooting yard, let your children ride real or wooden horse, make them participate in a children knights tournament, make their of cup on a pallet or buy some trifle in the stands of artisans.
Admission free: basic 8 €, reduced 4 €, family 15 €
Admission fee and products of the artisans is payable by cash only. Note – dogs are not allowed to enter the national cultural monument of castle Devin.
