Mikrozvuk #55: Paszka + Miłosz Kędra

In November, LOM space will host a concert from the Mikrozvuk series, featuring Polish artists Miłosz Kędra and Paszka.

A non-ambient album intended for ambient listening. This is how the Unsound festival describes the latest album by Polish sound artist Paszka. The album estoy chillando is ADHD pop with a bitter saccharine finish, in which the surrounding soundscapes break down into atoms and molecules, which then chaotically glitch into a completely new, often very crisp and even more entertaining reality. When listening to this, the listener has two options. They can focus all their attention on one point, find solid ground under their feet, and then try tooth and nail to stay in reality, or they can leave it to the universe, bounce off the atmosphere, and succumb to the centrifugal force of an unstoppable centrifuge. Her older albums were released by Gin&Platonic and Pointless Geometry, among others. The album features guest appearances by Kacha, Ursula Sereghy, Julek Ploski, Lénok, and Staś Czekalski. Simply put, the cream of Central Europe.

Miłosz Kędra is one of the prominent names on the lively Polish scene. Last year, he released his second album, their internal diapasons (Pointless Geometry), which received positive reviews from Pitchfork, The Wire, and Bandcamp. On it, he recorded the transformation of organ pipes he collected throughout Poland. Acoustic sounds, textures, and tunings are rearranged into completely new, synthetic compositions. During this process, he repeatedly returned to the concept of Audiomacy – evoking lost sounds. Kędra is also driven in his work by the legacy of Didier Eribon and most often frames his current work with a quote from Sartre: “What matters is not what is made of us, but what we ourselves make of what is made of us.” He will bring a new, portable version of his organ to LOM.
