The unique global exhibition TUTANKHAMUN is being extended until May 31, 2026.

The lecture will take place from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. Before or after the lecture, there will be an opportunity to tour the exhibition itself with an audio guide.

In ancient Egypt, the ideal of beauty was almost as important as the belief in the afterlife. Beauty did not only mean outward appearance, but perfection, order, and the divine principle standing in contrast to chaos. The desire for eternity is evidenced by thousands of cosmetic items, depictions, and preserved mummies that reveal the care taken with the body, hairstyles, makeup, and fragrances. The lecture will take you into the world of ancient Egyptian cosmetics and show you which of its secrets can still inspire us today.

The lecture will be led by:

Dr. phil. Veronika Verešová is a graduate of classical archaeology at the University of Trnava, Egyptology at the University of Vienna, and received her doctorate from the Institute of Classical Archaeology at the University of Vienna. She is a member of the board of directors of the Aigyptos Foundation and a researcher at the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. She focuses primarily on the Aegean Bronze Age, the Second Intermediate Period and the New Kingdom in Egypt, the history and material culture and intercultural relations in the eastern Mediterranean during the Bronze Age. Since 2008, she has been a member of the Polish-Slovak mission at the Tell el-Retábí site.
