Saxophobia Bratislava: Concert of 80-member saxophone orchestra

On Sunday, 3 March 2024, an orchestra composed only of saxophones will perform at the Slovak Radio. It will be composed of over 80 participants and lecturers of the international masterclasses Saxophobia Bratislava 2024 and will feature almost all types of saxophones from soprano, alto, tenor, baritone, bass and the rare double bass saxophone.

  • Pressburg Saxophone Quartet (BY, SK)
  • Ventus Saxophone Quartet (SK)
  • Kiril Stoyanov (BG) – percussion

Orchestra composed of over 80 saxophonists and one set of percussion instruments. Under the baton of Andreas van Zoelen will be performed compositions by J. S. Bach, L. van Beethoven, H. Berlioz, M. P.
Mussorgsky, G. Kastner and E. Suchoň in arrangements for saxophone orchestra. The programme will be complemented by works by Philip Glass, Thierry Escaich and Jérôme Naulais performed by three different saxophone quartets. The Slovak premiere will feature compositions by Viliam Gräffinger and Yevgeny Irshai performed by the Pressburg Saxophone Quartet.
