Images from this World and Elsewhere

An exhibition of previously unpresented works by Erik Binder, an exceptional artist and an unmistakable voice of the Slovak art scene, will take place in a special venue – Pistori Palace. This exhibition is the first to be held since his unexpected death last year at the age of 49.

The exhibition is prepared by the curator Ivan Jančár, who remembers Erik Binder as a warm-hearted and generous person for whom art was an inseparable part of life. „Erik Binder was an original artist with a specific vision of the world. His work was always full of expressive shapes, rich colors and unusual compositions,“ says Ivan Jančár.

Visitors to the exhibition will have the opportunity to see Binder’s works that have not yet been publicly presented. The curator of the exhibition decided to focus on his painting work, which contains elements of street art, such as the use of sprays and typical „flows“. „Our main intention is to show unknown and unexhibited works on the occasion of the first anniversary of his death,“ adds Ivan Jančár.

Erik Binder, born in 1974 in Hnúšt-Likier, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts and the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. His diverse work was exhibited not only in Slovakia, but also in the Czech Republic, Serbia, the Netherlands, Italy, Austria, Hungary, Poland, France, Switzerland, Germany and the USA. In 2003, he represented Slovakia at the prestigious 50th Biennale in Venice.

The exhibition Erik Binder: Images from this World and Elsewhere offers a unique opportunity to look into the mind and heart of this artist.
