From 14 to 17 March 2022, Bratislava Convention Bureau organised a fam trip for international meeting planners. The fam trip saw attendees go behind the scenes of Bratislava’s premier venues and indulge in jaw-dropping culinary creations. The attendees uncovered Bratislava’s hidden gems and had the opportunity to explore one of Europe’s fastest developing cities.

The attendees of the fam trip were distinguished HelmsBriscoe associates who came from France, Spain, Germany, Finland, The Netherlands and Slovenia. They were first greeted in one of Bratislava’s most sought-after hotels, the Sheraton Bratislava. To conclude their first day, the attendees dined in the Riverbank Restaurant.

Tijana Janić, Manager of Global Accounts at HelmsBriscoe, one of the attendees, stated: “The hotels and venues that we visited were world-class with some specifics that reminded us of Slovak tradition and unique experience offered by the Slovak countryside. One of the highlights was Chateau Pezinok, only 30 minutes outside Bratislava city, in beautiful nature with a small lake and peacocks surrounding the castle. For me, one of the greatest experiences was visiting an 800 years old wine cellar that features a spectacular offer of wines produced by the Šimak family. We had the privilege to have a delicious lunch in a breath-taking restaurant with a magnificent view of the garden.”

On the second day, participants held site inspections of Crowne plaza, AC Hotel by Marriott Bratislava Old Town, Radisson Blu Carlton Hotel and Park Inn Hotel. Afterwards, the participants went on a guided trip into the heart of the city where they could enjoy the historical ambience of the Old Market Hall and marvel at the Nedbalka Gallery that displays artworks of Slovak modern art. To conclude their second-day programme, the attendees enjoyed the splendour of Bratislava’s enchanting Old Town, including a visit to the Reduta Premises.

A metropolitan city with unmistakable charm

One of the culinary highlights was the networking lunch in Savoy Carlton and the dining experience in the Sheraton, Brasserie Anjou. On the final day, organisers of the fam trip from the Bratislava Convention Bureau took participants on a remarkable journey to the wine-making region outside Bratislava. Here, the attendees enjoyed a wine degustation in the modern winery Elesko and visited the centuries-old Simak Castle. Their wine-inspired trip concluded in the Palfy Chateau, where they inspected the wine cellars.

Tijana Janić concluded: “Everything was wrapped up in a fun and vibrant experience with nice people, wonderful food and wine. One of my highlights was the four-course dinner on the day of our arrival, organised in the Grand Hotel River Park located by the Danube river.”

“Bratislava is a metropolitan city but with the charm and comfort one experiences in a more intimate environment. It is perfect for events that could involve either a large or small number of participants since the locations are close by or within walking distance. A vibrant, cultural and historically rich city with friendly locals gives a perfect and memorable experience for any kind of event.”
