Svetozár Ilavský: Satori v Cíferi II
A solo exhibition by Svetozár Ilavský, one of the leading figures on the Slovak intermedia scene.
Svetozár Ilavský’s work cannot be confined to a single style or a linear progression. It moves between order and chaos, harmony and destruction, rational construction and spontaneous gesture. Matter and the natural elements—especially fire—play a significant role in his works, through which he explores the boundaries between creation and destruction, chance and control, and permanence and transience.
The complexity of his work is reflected in his core thematic areas: When I’m Home Alone, Pleonasm, Scores and Intermedia Projects, Christological Themes / Per Penderecki, and Works for Architecture. His ability to transcend the boundaries of various media while retaining his personal expressive energy makes his work a stimulating contribution to Slovak visual art.
