Deň architektúry: Avion

A tour of a timeless icon of interwar architecture with architectural theorist Katarina Haberland and ethnographer Lubica Volanská, co-authors of the book Avion, published by Čierne Diery.

We will walk through the authentic communal interiors of this exceptional residential complex, which still exude the atmosphere of the first half of the twentieth century. During the guided tour, visitors will discover the progressive way in which everyday life there was conceived and how functional architecture successfully shaped community life. They will listen to the fascinating recollections of former residents and eyewitnesses. Thanks to research by historian Julie Itin, the life stories of specific individuals who made their home in the building will be presented, along with how their personal destinies were shaped by the turbulent events of the 20th century.
