Deň architektúry: Bunker B-S 10

From a defensive line to experiential living, with commentary by the architects from TOITO and Martin Kleibl of OZ Konduktor.

The B-S 10 ‘Three Borders’ bunker in Petržalka, dating from 1934–1935, was built on the model of the Maginot Line. The reinforced concrete structure, with walls 1.5 metres thick, has been converted into experiential living space. Working in collaboration with OZ Konduktor, the architects avoided the traditional museum approach and opted for minimalist architecture. The raw concrete interior is complemented only by functional furniture made of steel and solid wood. Outside, next to the D2 motorway, a hidden atrium with a terrace and a fire pit has been created. The excavated earth forms a protective embankment, whilst greenery conceals the sanitary facilities. The roof offers views of Petržalka, Kamzík and the Austrian wind farms. The project sensitively blends military history with its new function.
