A fascinating glimpse into the hidden world of the Vanek House will show how sensitive interventions transform a creative studio into a living gallery, with commentary from the architects behind the renovation at N/A.
The Vanek House represents a multi-layered enclave where architecture intertwines with the visual arts and collective memory. The building blurs clear-cut authorship and bears the stamp of both the artist Vanek and the architect Svetko. It functions as a multifunctional whole in which everyday life is combined with the presentation of art and artistic practice. A new chapter in the building’s history is being written through collaboration with Zuzana Bodnárová and Svätopluk Mikyta from Banská Štiavnica. Their spatial interventions objectively re-examine the property’s original intense atmosphere. They transform the existing perception of intimacy and community life, thereby offering new possibilities for the use of the interior spaces and the adjoining garden.
