Kino inak A4: Smrť a sex v kempe Miazma
Jane Schoenbrun’s new film is a queer meta-slasher set in the world of the fictional horror series Camp Miasma. The story follows Kris, a young independent filmmaker who is given the opportunity to reboot a once-cult, now-defunct slasher franchise. In an effort to breathe new life into it, she returns to the location of the original film and seeks out its legendary ‘final girl’, the now reclusive and enigmatic actress Billy (Gillian Anderson), who lives in isolation on the grounds of the former campsite. What begins as a professional collaboration gradually transforms into an intense relationship in which fascination, trauma and desire intertwine. Reality begins to crumble under the pressure of cinematic mythology, memories and repressed emotions, until the line between the reboot and real life is completely blurred. The director builds on her previous style here – combining horror genre conventions with an intimate exploration of identity, queer desire and media obsession. The film premiered in the Un Certain Regard section at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival, where it won the Queer Palm.
