Nyege Nyege x Pazucha: DJ Anderson do Paraíso + Jay Mitta + more

On 11 September, the wild Nyege Nyege night is coming to Bratislava, bringing the most striking sounds from the global music underground.

Two uncompromising soundscapes will come together on one stage: dark, hypnotic Brazilian funk mineiro performed by DJ Anderson do Paraíso, and an ultra-fast Tanzanian whirlwind with a tempo of 180+ BPM from the genre’s pioneer, singeli artist Jay Mittu. The raw energy of the favelas, infectious East African polyrhythms and uncompromising club sound will be complemented by local support acts, to be announced shortly.

DJ Anderson do Paraíso

A Brazilian producer and DJ from Belo Horizonte, who ranks among the most distinctive and intriguing figures on the contemporary South American electronic scene. He is regarded as one of the principal architects of the distinctive sound known as funk mineiro – a darker, more minimalist and atmospheric offshoot of traditional Brazilian baile funk.
His productions steer clear of commercial formulas. Instead, they are built around hypnotic vocal loops, distorted basslines and an uncompromising spatial sound that draws the listener into an intense trance-like atmosphere. Anderson do Paraíso transforms the energy of the favelas into an immersive sound that resonates just as powerfully at street parties in Brazil as it does in leading avant-garde clubs around the world.

Jay Mitta

A producer and DJ from Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, who is one of the key figures in the global singeli phenomenon. This is an ultra-fast genre of electronic music that combines traditional East African rhythms, frenetic vocals and an uncompromising tempo often exceeding 180 BPM.
Jay Mitta is closely associated with the cult African collective and record label Nyege Nyege Tapes, thanks to which singeli has gained recognition on the international scene. In his sets and productions, he combines childlike playfulness with unpredictable, explosive energy. His performances are renowned for their electrifying tempo, polyrhythmic complexity and the ability to instantly whip the crowd into an uncontrollable dance frenzy.
