Slam poetry: Kvalifikácia na Majstrovstvá Slovenska

In November, the A4 will host the qualifiers for the Slovak Slam Championships, featuring seasoned slammers, national stars and complete newcomers alike.

The Slovak Slam Championships are the premier slam event in Slovakia. However, qualifying for them is no easy feat. Only eight lucky competitors from Slovakia will be able to compete for the title of champion at Tabačka in Košice on 4 December 2026.

Slovak Slam Championship qualifiers:

• 6 November at A4 in Bratislava,
• 7 November at Tabačka in Košice,
• 28 November at Bašta in Bardejov and at Záhrada in Banská Bystrica.

From each qualifying round, two lucky contestants whose texts and performances make the biggest impression on the audience will go through to the next round.

Anyone can register by emailing slamslovenskomail@gmail.com. The number of competitors is limited to 15 slam poets.

Rules:

• No costumes or props.
• An original text that the slam poet has not performed at a qualifier or championship in previous years.
• Time limit: 4 minutes. For every 5 seconds or part thereof over the time limit, 2 points will be deducted; if the 5-minute limit is exceeded, the competitor will be disqualified.
