With this challenging project, Danubiana Meulensteen Art Museum brings leading works of European avant-garde to Slovakia, which we previously could only admire abroad. At the same time the concept of the exhibition meets the demanding professional criteria through comparative analysis of the work by Joan Miró and members of CoBrA, searching for proximity in the points of origin of their ideas, philosophical essence and congeniality of artistic language.

Miró and CoBrA were part of the European avant-garde – CoBrA as a movement and Miró as an artist. By presenting them at the same time, we show their artistic kinship that existed despite the fact that Miró was not in close contact with the movement. By combining the work of Miró and the CoBrA group, we examine the relatedness of two generations of innovative artists.
