The Magistrate is the executive body of the city council and the mayor. The municipality of Slovakia’s Capital City of Bratislava has existed since 1 January 1991. Previously, the city office was called the National Committee of SSR’s Capital City of Bratislava SSR (NVMB) for almost 50 years.
Historically it applies that the city office, national committee and magistrate fulfilled or fulfil the role of City Hall. City Hall provides a complete written agenda of the municipality, preparation and execution of the decision of the city council and the mayor, expert materials and documents for their meetings, as well as relations with citizens. However, it does not decide on most issues, just implements the decisions of municipal authorities.
