A4 – Space for Contemporary Culture
The A4 – Space for Contemporary Culture is a multi-functional non-commercial center in the center of Bratislava
Annually, A4 prepares or hosts over 300 cultural, artistic and social events: theater and dance performances, film screenings, concerts, discussions, exhibitions, lectures, presentations, creative workshops and other educational activities.
Music
A4 has been a place for new and inspiring music since its inception. Dramaturgy is focused on presenting original artistic work, either in its own program with a clear curatorial concept, or in cooperation with partners. An important criterion in the creation of the program is artistic quality, authenticity and timeliness. Concerts in the A4 area offer the audience the opportunity to experience the most interesting forms of today’s music with renowned international and domestic artists.

Theater
In addition to the SkRAT theater in A4, the dramaturgy also offers a presentation of visiting professional theater groups from Slovakia and abroad, as well as the best of the domestic amateur theater scene.

Dance
A4 regularly hosts the physical theater Debris Company, which is one of the most important Slovak dance groups, as well as the Contemporary Dance Association. Festivals with which A4 has been cooperating for a long time significantly complement the dance offer. They are mainly the NuDanceFest and Bratislava in motion festivals.

Cinema differently
On a regular basis, it gives space to films that find it difficult to find a place elsewhere – be it creative documentaries, experimental films or films about art. The cinema’s program is thematically structured and includes retrospectives of significant characters in contemporary auteur films, with special attention paid to female filmmakers.
