Domus Artis – Festival of Chamber Music
The spring chamber music festival in the Albrecht House revives the tradition of presenting chamber music in the authentic environment on Kapitulská, the oldest street in Bratislava
33 classical compositions and more than 20 excellent domestic and foreign performers will make seven spring Sunday evenings pleasant for anyone who comes.
The dramaturgy emphasizes Central European contexts, anchored in the traditions of domestic chamber music cultivation, but also brings rarely played titles of “early music” (Hinterleitner, Weichenberger, Durand) or unknown works of the saxophone repertoire (Singelée, Demersseman, Kastner, Gilson, etc.). Domus Artis presents mainly chamber works with piano, presents works by authors whose lives were or are connected to Bratislava and the Central European cultural space.
Five concerts present the music of the “classics” of the 19th and 20th centuries. century (Bartók, Dohnányi, Honegger, Debussy, Ravel, Janáček, Brouwer) and most of them feature works by Slovak authors (Šimai, Zeljenka, Parík, Bella, Albrecht, Németh-Šamorínsky, Godár).
One concert is a historical excursion into the lute music of the 17th and 18th centuries. It will also feature the music of Paul Carl Durand, a native of Prešpor, a musician associated with the Cathedral of St. Martin, who was supported by o.i. Hungarian Primate Imrich Esterházy.
The final concert is a tribute to Adolph Sax and his instrument, which has permanently established itself in chamber and symphonic music.
Tickets €12, €8, €5. The fee will be used to cover the costs associated with the event and the ongoing reconstruction of the national cultural monument – the Albrecht House.
