Medieval Craft Market at the Bratislava Castle

Taste the Middle Ages, and experience its crafts in the castle courtyard!

Experience the atmosphere of the 14th century in the courtyard of the Bratislava Castle! A potter, a potter, a turner, a coiner, a scribe and others will show you their crafts as well as local products of their handiwork.

A medieval kitchen will complete the experience – you will be able to taste traditional soups or cakes. For the little ones, there will be an “alchemist” stand with drinks. For adults, wine will be prepared according to old recipes.

Medieval craft markets will be held over four pre-Christmas weekends: 25-26 November, 1-3 December, 8-10 December and 15-17 December.

Opening hours:

Fridays from 12:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Saturdays and Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Admission to the market is free.

Along with the market, the Historical Museum at the Bratislava Castle will also host various other programs, such as a night guided tour focusing on the person of the architect Piffl or creative workshops for families with children, but these will be chargeable.

The medieval market is organised by the Civic Association Schatmansdorf Častá, which is dedicated to the representation of people’s lives in the late Middle Ages, specifically the presentation of the historical period at the turn of the 14th and 15th centuries. It primarily focuses on the reconstruction of contemporary crafts and a credible demonstration of medieval life.

In his craftsmanship, he is guided by descriptions and practices from contemporary literary sources, illuminations and archaeological finds, which serve as inspiration for a faithful illustration of a particular craft.
