Richard Galliano Sextet
He is unquestionably the world’s most famous living accordionist, a star of the classical, jazz and world music scenes all at once.
Richard Galliano was born in 1950 in Cannes. Thanks to his exceptional talent and the help of his musician father, he has been able to establish the accordion in musical contexts where this instrument has hitherto been ignored: in classical concert halls and at jazz festivals. Among others he has collaborated with Astor Piazzolla, with whom he had a friendship of many years. At the Viva Musica! Festival he is appearing with his sextet. Apart from Piazzolla’s compositions, they will also perform works by Antonio Vivaldi and others.
