Bratislava Cultural Summer 2022

Concerts, fairy tales, theatre, discussions, chess, and quizzes about Bratislava. Summer in Bratislava is already inherently linked with the opening of the popular Bratislava Cultural Summer festival, which will kick off its 47th year in 2022. The organiser and dramaturge of the festival is the Bratislava Cultural and Information Centre.

Last year, a new urban cultural scene was added to the structure of the multi-genre festival in Janko Kráľ Park. The oldest public park in Central Europe will be alive with culture this year too. On Mondays, visitors can work out, Wednesdays will be dedicated to exotic parts of the world in the Travellers’ Cinema, as well as films of various genres in the Wandering Cinema. The last Thursday of the month will feature discussions with interesting guests and Fridays will belong to concerts by Slovak musicians and bands. Visitors’ knowledge will be tested by the popular Quiz about Bratislava with the presenter Ludwig Bagin and the guide to Bratislava Martin Záni. The We Play for All Festival will welcome all children to regularly scheduled fairy tales from the repertoire of Slovak and foreign theatres.

Guided walks around Bratislava
During the summer, the year-round series of thematic walks by BKIS – A Date with the City – will continue to offer engaging topics, favourite guides, and mysterious and funny stories about Bratislava during the summer months. Special tours for families with children are prepared for the youngest visitors. Ukrainians will also be able to get to know our city thanks to special guided tours in the Russian language.

Cultural scenes in the city
Visitors will experience a varied programme for all ages at several scenes. Hradby or Klarisky will come alive with culture, and Bratislava Cultural Summer will also include well-established festivals such as the Summer Shakespeare Festival, the International Youth Festival, Viva Musica!, the J. K. Mertz Guitar Festival, and the Cathedral Organ Festival.

The city’s organisations – the Bratislava Meta Museum, the Bratislava City Gallery, Municipal Library, the Metropolitan Institute of Bratislava, the Bratislava ZOO, and Bratislava Tourist Board – will also offer an interesting programme, and the individual city districts will also provide exceptional cultural experiences.
