GOLDEN AGE FESTIVAL is the only international festival of early jazz in Slovakia. It is focused on stylish bands interpreting jazz music of the first half of the past century, the so-called golden era of early jazz and swing (1920-1950). Ragtime, hot jazz, Dixieland, swing and boogie-woogie resound in authentic interpretation of three internationally respected music ensembles.

The director of the Festival, the internationally renowned piano virtuoso and saxophonist, Ladislav Fančovič, said about the fifth year of the Festival: „I am very glad, that the Hot Jazz Band from Hungary, which I regard as one of the best authentic bodies of early jazz worldwide, will come back to our Festival again after two years. They will perform really authentic hot jazz from the 1920s and the 1930s and also charming Hungarian songs from this era, which also the young František Krištof Veselý certainly hummed during his studies in Budapest.

The culmination of the evening will be the Polish ensemble Jazz Band Ball Orchestra, which brings already for more than 50 years traditional jazz at the highest level to listeners worldwide. They will attend the Golden Age Festival also with their special guest from the USA – the pianist and singer Stanley Breckenridge, who captivates the audience with his energy and his natural brilliant jazz appearance. Already traditionally, the trio of participants will be closed by our Fats Jazz Band, which will this year offer the listeners several new pieces in the repertoire and also present the unique, rare instrument bass saxophone. All instruments of our orchestra are original pieces from the 1920s to 1940s, something we are very proud of.“ added Fančovič.
