The traditions of a distinctive village in the heart of a big city? In Bratislava, yes!
The dignified premises of the Great Evangelical Church will offer something truly remarkable during Advent. Musicians from the well-known village of Upper Považie cultural region will perform with their folklore programme, tied with the Christmas holidays. The Terchovians will bring their Christmas to the capital again on Friday, December 9.
These festivities has been held regularly in Terchová every year for over 40 years. Every year, it unites the whole village and people in the local church remind themselves that in a few days the peace and quiet is comming, and that there will be time for meetings of whole families. Now you’ll see it in the capital.
In Bratislava, Terchová Christmas will be this year presented again in the Great Evangelical Church, which provides this holiday with a perfect atmosphere. It will be absolutely unique, festive. The acoustics and space of this exceptional church will increase the overall experience of folklore, humility and peace.
As usual, this year’s edition of Terchová Christmas will also include a unique instrument of Slovak folk culture as well as Slovak cultural heritage inscribed in the UNESCO list, fujara, which will also be played by musicians from Terchová.
Let yourselves be enchanted by the heritage of the ancestors, celebrating in full purity the splendor of Slovak traditions. You will be introduced to musicians from very young children to the oldest ones that Terchová has. The concert starts at 6 p.m., however you can come to church 45 minutes in advance.
Do not miss the cultural experience from the region of Juraj Jánošík. Pleasant sitting, or in the end also dancing and singing with the band from Terchová will certainly make you feel festive. A bitterly flavoured yellow gentian welcome drink prepared for any visitor over the age of 18 may also help with that.
