Trh-Piac-Markt

Shopping in the Old Market Hall has style. Come see for yourselves

The regular food market in the Old Market Hall follows the tradition of this building being a marketplace. In its form, the market is unique in Bratislava and surrounding areas.

It offers mostly food produced by the regional farmers and producers, which are accompanied by foreign delicacies. Moreover, the largest book market in Slovakia – the Bratislava Book Market – takes place during the market on the first floor. In addition to books, you can find there various posters, graphics, LPs or magazines. But that’s not at all!

Markets in the Old Market Hall are first and foremost about the experience. Their unique vibe is accompanied by various activities for both children and adults. All accompanying programs take place or do not take place depending on the current pandemic situation.

Every Saturday, with the exception of the Christmas and New Year holidays, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. you can find fresh artisan food from local farmers, producers and small family manufactories under one roof. The range is further complemented by high-quality foreign delicacies, natural cosmetics, indoor and cut flowers.

On the first floor, you will find vendors of the Bratislava Book Market, where you can buy fiction, professional literature, graphics or LP records. This unique event takes place in the same hours as the market. You can also find here records, postcards, magazines, CDs, comics or posters.

The Oasis hosts regular tea tastings, ceramic workshops and plants’ swap once a month. One of the traditions of Saturday markets is also a theater for children, which is always held at 11 a.m. For the little ones there is also a children’s corner available throughout the day. You can get to know the tastes of foreign countries in the Community Cuisine, in which representatives of foreign communities living in Bratislava cook.

If you are hungry while shopping, on the floor of the market you will find the pop-up kitchen of the Old Market Hall – the Cantina – where chef Daniel Karas cooks for you every week. Most of the ingredients used in cooking come from the Trh-Piac-Markt marketers.

You can also hand over your used kitchen oil for further processing at the info-point or donate your old bakery goods to the Farma Franková. They’ll use it to feed their poultry.

The selection of marketers and food market organization in the Old Market Hall is guided by the ‘Code of the Food Markets’. The code was issued in cooperation with the civic association Slow Food Pressburg. When selecting the marketers, the Trh-Piac-Markt considers the origins of the goods and favor those, that are exceptional due to their quality being the key point at the market.

Come over to the Old Market Hall to savour the regular Saturday food market full of delicious, local food, international delicacies and accompanying programme.
