Antonio Vivaldi – The Four Seasons

The shine and fame of a composer… a paraphrase of the title of the novel by Honoré de Balzac expresses the fate of the darling of the public of the entire world, the brilliant Venetian Antonio Vivaldi. For years he won great success as violinist, composer, as well as pedagogue in one of the Venetian girls’ orphanages. He produced an enormous amount of titles, mainly of concertante character. At one of the tours Vivaldi drew interest of the Austro-Hungarian ruler who motivated him to relocate to Vienna. There, however, after the unexpected death of the emperor he got in material hardship and died alone and broken. Yet, this tragedy is until today compensated through the interest in his impressive pieces; the cycle of Violin Concertos about the four seasons dominates in this context.
The violinist and conductor Ewald Danel is the artistic leader of the Slovak Chamber Orchestra since 2001. The SKO belongs to the top inland artistic bodies and participates to a large degree in the presentation of Slovak music production.
