Architect Artur Szalatnai-Slatinský and His World

The exhibition is the final part of a three-year cycle dedicated to the life and work of Artur Szalatnai-Slatinský, a prominent figure of 20th-century Slovak architecture.

📍 Heydukova 11/13, 811 08 Bratislava
The Jewish Community Museum in the synagogue on Heydukova Street in Bratislava is open every Friday and Sunday from 10:00 to 16:00, from June 1 to September 28, 2025.

About the exhibition

The exhibition at the Jewish Community Museum brings to light the creative background of architect Artur Szalatnai-Slatinský through personal objects, drawings and works of art that reveal both his everyday life and the more intimate side of his personality. Visitors will find authentic equipment from his studio, documents and photographs from the early 20th century, and portraits by contemporaries that complement his architectural legacy. Another special feature are still lifes with floral motifs, exhibited together with original vases from his household. The exhibition thus offers a glimpse into lesser-known aspects of the creator and at the same time recalls the atmosphere of Bratislava, in which he lived and worked. The symbolic climax is its placement in the synagogue on Heyduková Street – a building that he designed himself and which becomes the natural framework for his life story.
