Bienále ilustrácií Bratislava 2025

The 30th anniversary edition of the Bratislava Biennial of Illustrations (BIB) will take place from October 3, 2025, to January 11, 2026, at the Slovak National Gallery.

The Bratislava Biennial of Illustration, an international competition showcasing original illustrations from books for children and young adults, will present the best children’s illustrations created around the world over the past two years. The exhibition will be open to the public from October 4, following the awards ceremony, which will take place on Friday evening, October 3. The event is held with the support of the International Board on Books for Young People (IBBY) and under the auspices of the President of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Culture of the Slovak Republic, and the Slovak Commission for UNESCO. The first BIB was held in 1967, right here at the SNG. Its founders include JUDr. Dušan Roll, academic painter Miroslav Cipár, academic painter Albín Brunovský, and other enthusiasts of children’s book illustrations.

An international jury composed of experts in the field of book culture will award prizes to the best illustrators – the Grand Prix, 5 golden apples, 5 plaques, and honorable mentions to publishers. Each registered country will be represented by a maximum of 10 illustrators.
