CHRISTMAS CONCERT OF THE SLOVAK CHAMBER ORCHESTRA
Although the priest, composer, organist, pedagogue and experienced „Magister Chori“ Georgius Zrunek originated from the city Valašské Klobouky in Moravia, he spent all his life in the territory of today’s Slovakia. He wrote most of his pieces in the convent in Žilina. Together with Edmund Pascha they tried to intensify the sacred music creation in the Slovak regions. In the collections Liber sacrorum and Praeconium Mariale he concentrated a variety of poetic settings of Ordinaries of the Mass, of the requiem, of litanies, of antiphons and other categories of sacred music. Christmas topics and the pastorals connected with them were very significant in his work.
